Location and Directions
LOCATION:
The SS American Victory
is conveniently located in Tampa’s burgeoning Channel
District, at 705 Channelside Drive, behind the Florida
Aquarium. The ship can be accessed through the Florida
Aquarium or by walking east along Cumberland Avenue,
just north of the Aquarium and off the traffic circle.
The ship is easily accessible by car or the Hartline
Streetcar system. Directions to the ship from all
points are described below.
DIRECTIONS:
Interstate 275 Northbound
- Take Exit 44
(Ashley Street) and continue straight (south) past
Kennedy Boulevard to Jackson Street.
- Turn left on
Jackson Street; drive through downtown and across
railroad tracks to Meridian Street.
- Turn right on
Meridian Street and continue to the next light,
Cumberland Avenue.
- Turn left on
Cumberland Avenue, past the high rises and under the
parking garage
- Enter traffic
circle (right) and continue around to the left to
head north on Channelside Drive.
- Turn right on York
Street to the Florida Aquarium parking lot (large
neon sign is on the corner).
Interstate 275
Southbound
- Merge onto
Interstate 4 East, using Exit 45B (east toward
Orlando).
- Use Exit 1 from
I-4, (21st Street); at bottom of ramp, turn right
(south) onto 21st Street to Adamo Drive.
- At Adamo Drive
(Route 60), turn right (west) and continue on Adamo
Drive for a short distance.
- At the traffic
light under the overpass, follow left curve (Adamo
Dr. becomes Channelside Dr. at the light).
- Turn left on York
Street to Florida Aquarium parking lot (large neon
sign is on the corner).
Interstate
4 Westbound
- Take the Downtown
East exit (22nd Street/21st Street), Exit 1.
- Continue straight
on 13th Avenue to 21st Street.
- Turn left on 21st
Street to Adamo Drive and at Adamo Drive (Route 60),
turn right (west).
- Continue on Adamo
Drive for a short distance.
- At the traffic
light under the overpass, follow left curve (Adamo
Dr. becomes Channelside Dr.), to York Street.
- Turn left on York
Street to Florida Aquarium parking lot (large neon
sign is on the corner).
State
Route 60 (Adamo Drive) Westbound
- Travel west on
Adamo Drive.
- At the traffic
light under the overpass, follow left curve (Adamo
Dr. becomes Channelside Dr.), to York Street.
- Turn left on York
Street to Florida Aquarium parking lot.
State
Route 60 (Kennedy Blvd./Jackson Street) Eastbound
- Travel east on
Kennedy Boulevard to Ashley Drive (first light after
crossing the Hillsborough River).
- Turn right on
Ashley Drive, continue to next light, Jackson
Street.
- Turn left on
Jackson Street; drive through downtown and across
railroad tracks to Meridian Street.
- Turn right on
Meridian Street and continue to the next light,
Cumberland Avenue.
- Turn left on
Cumberland Avenue, past the high rises and under
parking garage.
- Enter traffic
circle (right) and continue around to the left to
head north on Channelside Drive.
- Turn left on York
Street to the Florida Aquarium parking lot (large
neon sign is on the corner).
From the LeRoy Selmon
(Crosstown) Expressway
Eastbound:
- Use Exit 6-B (Channelside
area).
- At end of ramp,
head east on Channelside Drive, past the St. Pete
Times Forum, Hooters and Florida Aquarium
- Enter the traffic
circle past the Aquarium and go around to head north
on Channelside Drive.
- Turn right onto
York Street to Florida Aquarium parking lot (large
neon sign is on the corner).
Westbound:
- Use Exit 9, (22nd
Street);at bottom of ramp, turn right onto 22nd
Street; go a short distance to Adamo Dr. (Route 60).
- Turn left (west)
onto Adamo Drive.
- At the traffic
light under the overpass, follow left curve (Adamo
Dr. becomes Channelside Dr.), to York Street.
- Turn left on York
Street to Florida Aquarium parking lot (large neon
sign is on the corner).
 VIA
THE HARTLINE TECO STREETCAR
Disembark the streetcar at the Cumberland Avenue
Station. Walk south, towards the Florida Aquarium, to
Cumberland Avenue and turn left (east) and walk past
the Aquarium delivery area and Terminal 3 down to the
dock. Signage is available to direct you.
PARKING
Parking is available at either the Florida Aquarium
parking lot (corner of Channelside Dr. and York St.)
or the Port Authority Parking Garage (driveway off
Channelside Dr. at the large blue sign.) The Aquarium
lot charges $5 per car; the Port Authority Garage
charges $2 per hour. Prices are subject to change;
the American Victory does not set parking fees.
GETTING TO THE SS
AMERICAN VICTORY AFTER PARKING
From the
Florida Aquarium Parking Lot:
Walk south, toward the Aquarium; at the driveway at
the back of the Aquarium, turn left (east) and walk
past the Aquarium delivery area and Terminal 3 down to
the dock. Signage is also available to direct you.
From the Port
Authority Parking Garage Main Entrance:
Use the pedestrian crossing to cross
Channelside Drive. In front of Joffrey’s Coffee shop,
turn left and follow the trolley tracks to the
driveway off the traffic circle (Cumberland Ave.). At
the driveway, turn right (east) and walk past the
Aquarium delivery area and Terminal 3 down to the
dock. Signage is also available to direct you.
